
arrah A. Irving is admitted to practice law in the State of New Jersey, United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, and United States Tax Court. Ms. Irving earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a concentration in Social Services from William Paterson University, a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Kean University, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of the District of Columbia, David A. Clarke School of Law.
While a student at the David A. Clarke School of Law, Ms. Irving, was a recipient of the Joseph A. Rauh Scholarship for Clinical Excellence. She served as an executive board member of the Black Law Students’ Association, the Women’s Law Society. and the Student Bar Association. She also competed on the Law School’s Oral Advocacy Team. Ms. Irving had the honor of providing over 700 hours of free legal representation to the Washington, DC community through her law school’s clinical program.
Ms. Irving began her career as an associate at a North Jersey law firm where she practiced civil litigation focusing on Title 59 defense for New Jersey municipalities and public entities. Ms. Irving also had the opportunity to work with school districts where she provided guidance, oversight and training. While at the firm, Ms. Irving met her law partner, Samantha Mendenhall, and the Law Firm of Irving and Mendenhall was founded.
Since its inception, the Law Firm of Irving and Mendenhall has provided superior service to clients, including the areas of civil litigation, family law, and municipal law. Ms. Irving has served as the Township Attorney for the Township of Hillside and Assistant Township Attorney for the Township of Irvington. She currently serves at the Corporation Counsel for the City of Paterson and the Chief Municipal Prosecutor for the Township of Irvington. Ms. Irving’s practice has evolved over the years and she currently specializes in the areas of real estate acquisitions and bankruptcy.
In her spare time, Ms. Irving enjoys spending time with her husband, Rev. Dr. Adrian Wilkins, and her large extended family. She is an avid cruiser and will travel wherever a ship will take her.
